Catherine – Greatfull founder<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even as a child, I had a keen curiosity about the way the world worked and what was happening in it, and I was unable to remain insensitive to what was going on. I felt a deep desire to make a positive contribution. I was also passionate about words, books, people, countries and their cultures. This passion led me to become a social anthropologist and to study journalism, then to write stories and a novel. I’ve always loved fashion, and as I regularly passed by t-shirts with soulless slogans who\u2019s mass production in faraway lands is often not synonymous with fairy tales for the artisans or our beloved planet, I dreamt of being able to wear sweatshirts and t-shirts that would be precious clothes of organic softness, as tender with the planet as with my skin, while at the same time carrying words with real meaning, sprinkled here and there with a touch of humour. The GOTS label, which guarantees the well-being of the workers, was also essential for me. And the idea that 10% of every sale could help to ease the daily lives of sick children in hospitals warmed my heart as much as these cosy garments would warm my body. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the Greatfull brand, I was able to combine my love of words and contemporary fashion: to spread messages imbued with humanity, messages that would resonate in a simple, obvious and caring way, on beautiful, soft and ethical clothes.As a single mum, I scrabbled for moments here and there to work on my dream. Every pertinent question from my curious little one about our society and the planet was a source of inspiration for my project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was lucky enough to meet Tom Tirabosco<\/a>, an extraordinary artist who\u2019s talent is matched only by his generosity, and who was ready to embark on this adventure with me. We spent hours in his studio perfecting this emerging character, whose personality grew stronger with each new stroke of pencil. Tom Tirabosco is a Swiss comic book artist based in Geneva. Tom has written some twenty books, and his works have been translated into several languages. Creating a character who embodies wisdom, power, gentleness and love is a new challenge he has decided to take up for GreatFull.Guest of Honour at the BDFIL 2024 Festival in Lausanne, Switzerland.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I made a lot of calls to find the right production company. I had many disappointed hopes along the way. We tested, touched the material and compared cotton samples to find the softest, strongest and most fluid one. I looked for organic colours that would match exactly what I was aiming for in terms of shades. I made sure that the prints would be screen-printed, an age-old method of undeniable quality, a detail that Tom Tirabosco had rightly insisted on! The ink, of course, had to be organic, and GOTS-certified too. Each print had to be impeccable to ensure it was of the highest quality, inspected under Sabine’s watchful eye.I finally found the CAMAC company in Italy! A perfect alchemy of attention to detail, respect for the environment and people. In other words, organic and GOTS certification, not just a label on the front door.Here too there was a lot of back and forth of samples. By focusing on the smallest details, we were able to find the brightest, most vibrant colours.Then we reworked the suppleness of the collars, ordered recycled zips from the best supplier: YKK, insisted that the eyelets be sewn on and not embellished with a metal eyelet, and the same for the end of the cords on the hoodies, all to ensure that the garment was as environmentally friendly as possible.Then the orders came in, a quality check in Cesena where I travelled by train in a few hours to check that the handmade work was of the same quality as the samples we’d received earlier, and the garments could be delivered to the shores of Lake Geneva, in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, I had contacted the Th\u00e9odora Foundation to tell them about my project. I was given a very warm welcome. I admire their work, which brings a smile to the faces of children in hospital for long periods, even more than before. It’s a daring project, combining fashion, ecological and human ethics, messages that speak to our consciences and support for sick children, all in a light-hearted and humorous way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guided by the invaluable advice of Neda, a friend and great mentor, I’m looking forward to continuing this exciting journey!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
